Wie wil dansen, kán ook dansen: vanuit je eigen kracht met je eigen talent
Kimberley is een gepassioneerde, ondernemende dansdocent met brede interesses. Tijdens haar opleiding heeft ze haar voelsprieten uitgezet en geproefd van het werkveld dat voor haar ligt. Zo liep ze stage bij Rijn IJssel, in het basisonderwijs, bij de Internationale Schakelklas (ISK), de HAN en bij diverse amateurdansscholen. De continue afwisseling in doelgroep en situatie maakt een werkweek voor haar zo leuk: geen dag is hetzelfde.
Haar lessen zijn eigenzinnig, fysiek, muzikaal en gericht op het individu. Ze geeft het liefst les in moderne dans, floorwork, hiphop en jazz. Van jong tot oud kan bij haar terecht voor een uitdagende en plezierige dansles.
In haar afstudeeronderzoek zocht Kimberley naar praktische tips om faalangst in de dansles meer aandacht te geven en te kunnen verminderen. Hierbij bekeek ze het perspectief van zowel de docent als de leerling. Ze verdiepte hiermee niet alleen haar eigen docentschap maar maakte deze kennis ook toegankelijk voor collega’s.
Naast het lesgeven is Kimberley een kei in organisatie. Zo houdt ze zich graag bezig met ondersteunende taken bij een organisatie, zoals het beheren van de sociale media en het organiseren van de eindvoorstelling. Daarnaast is ze betrokken bij Stichting Evolutio als secretaris en assistent-choreograaf. Als geboren en getogen Achterhoekse liep ze zelf vaak tegen het beperkte aanbod in de regio aan. Kansen voor talentvolle dansers zijn er wel, maar vaak moeten zij hiervoor ver reizen. Stichting Evolutio zet zich in voor de danscultuur in het oosten van Nederland en dat is precies waar Kimberley aan bij wil dragen.

If you want to dance, you can: finding your own strength and your own talent
Kimberley is a passionate and entrepreneurial dance teacher with broad interests. During the bachelor programme, she has had her antennae wide open, probing the work field before her. Among other things, she held an internship with Rijn IJssel school for senior secondary vocational education, in primary education, with the International Transition Class (ISK), with HAN university of applied sciences, and with several amateur dance studios. The variety in target group and situation is what makes her working week so exciting: no two days are the same.
Her classes are unconventional, physical, musical and focused on the individual. She most enjoys teaching modern dance, floor work, hip hop and jazz. All ages are welcome to her challenging and pleasant dance classes.
For her graduation research, Kimberley went looking for practical tips to address and reduce fear of failure in the dance class. She both studied the perspective of the teacher and that of the student. Not only has this enhanced her own teaching skills, she has also made this knowledge accessible to colleagues.
Besides teaching, Kimberley has great organizational skills. She enjoys assisting organizations with supporting tasks, such as social media administration and organizing the final show. In addition, she is involved in Stichting Evolutio as secretary and assistant choreographer. Born and raised in the Dutch Achterhoek district, she often found that the opportunities in the region were limited. Talented dancers can find their way, but they often have to travel far. Stichting Evolutio is committed to enhancing the dance culture in the East-Netherlands. And that is exactly what Kimberley wants to contribute to.
