Docent Dans naar Nederland. Tijdens de laatste jaren van haar studie ontwikkelde ze veel interesse in moderne en hedendaagse technieken. Tijdens haar afstuderen richt Chiara zich voornamelijk op Floorwork technieken en hoe deze in verhouding staan tot diverse ‘contemporary’ benaderingen.
Haar nieuwsgierigheid naar beweging, energie en passie voor dans motiveerde haar om meer over hedendaagse dans te leren. Vervolgens was ze betrokken bij diverse creatieve situaties en uitwisselingen. Ze pakte haar kans om in andere steden verschillende professionele dansprogramma’s en trainingen te volgen. Vooral in Berlijn heeft ze een inspiratiebron in technische en creatieve contexten kunnen vinden, die ze vervolgens met de Bachelor op ArtEZ kon verbinden. In het vierde jaar heeft Chiara haar profilering in Berlijn voortgezet. Met haar onderzoek over ‘breaking movement patterns in dance improvisation’ heeft ze zich hierin meer kunnen verdiepen.
Chiara was altijd al geïnteresseerd in de relatie tussen technische en creatieve benaderingen in dans. Daarom ontwikkelde zij een grote passie voor improvisatie. In improvisatie raakt ze gefascineerd door het concept van waarnemen, gedragen, onderzoeken en communiceren in diverse situaties. Verder benadert ze improvisatie in technische lessen, creatieve contexten, choreografische processen en/of in de choreografie zelf.
Chiara ziet de diversiteit en kracht van improvisatie in de benadering van dans en beweging in verschillende creatieve situaties. Daarom wil ze deze passie voor beweging, energie en creatieve uitwisselingen met andere mensen en dansers delen.
In de toekomst wil Chiara haar rol als danser in technische en creatieve benaderingen verder onderzoeken om het fundament voor haar lesgeven en creatieve werk te vormen. Door deze ervaring ziet ze zichzelf ontwikkelen tot een hedendaagse dansmaker in diverse situaties.

Chiara Schmiedel was born and raised in Germany and moved to the Netherlands in 2018 to join the ArtEZ Bachelor of Dance in Education. During the last years of her study, she developed an interest for modern and contemporary techniques. For her graduation year, Chiara put her emphasis on floorwork techniques and how they relate to several contemporary techniques and approaches. Her curiosity in movement, energy and passion for dance grew into a motivation to learn more about contemporary dance. She consequently entered several creative exchanges and took the opportunity to join professional dance programs and trainings in different cities. Especially in Berlin she found an inspiration source of technical and creative contexts, which she then could take into her study at ArtEZ. In her fourth year she reconnected to that exchange and executed her research about ‘breaking movement pattern in dance improvisation’ in Berlin.
She has always been interested in the relationship between technical and creative approaches in dance. That’s why her curiosity for improvisation grew over the last few years. Chiara is interested in improvisation as a concept of behaving, acting, researching, and communicating in several structures and situations. Furthermore, she likes to use improvisation during the process of technical dance development, creative approaches, choreographic processes, or choreography itself.
Chiara sees the diversity and power of improvisation to approach dance and movement in several situation and creative contexts. From that point of view, she wants to share her passion for movement, energy and creative exchange with other people and dancers.
In the future Chiara sees herself continuing researching her role as a dancer within technical/ creative methods and approaches, to form a fundament for her teaching practice and projects. Through that experience she wants to grow towards a work as a dance maker in different contexts.
