Ina Ortega

(English below)

Ina Schwarte Ortega is a passionate young dancer and teacher who is fascinated by biomechanics, functional anatomy and kinesiology. As an Artist Educator, she aims to guide her students towards understanding technique through experiencing their individual anatomical possibilities. With this knowledge she hopes to give the students tools to autonomously work on their artistic development and technique whilst avoiding unnecessary strain on their bodies. Ina’s peers would describe her as a creative, authentic, and methodical person who pays attention to detail and embraces individuality.

As a dancer, she feels at home in dance techniques like classical ballet and modern dance but also appreciates expressing herself through improvisation and more experimental styles. Lately, she has been devoting herself to individual movement research as a base for choreographic work. She has been working closely with dancer, teacher, choreographer, and founder of Groovement™, Fernanda Silva. Under Fernanda’s mentorship Ina has been studying the methods behind Groovement™, which is a movement improvisation method based on natural anatomy. Inspired by her recovery from a recurring injury, she has spent the four years at ArtEZ specialising in integrating proprioceptive and kinaesthetic approaches into technical classes. In her bachelor thesis she addresses how tuning into one’s body and physicality through proprioception, as a means to preventing injury, can be woven into existing structures of dance classes. The principle of optimizing movement through actively listening to the body is what has driven Ina throughout her development. She strives to share these experiences with her students.
